I know who used to live in the Railway carriage near to Hawk's Nest Wood in response to your article in January. It was the McGowan family. Mrs McGowan is in her nineties and lives in an old peoples home in Garforth. Think that she also has a couple of daughters still alive.

Hi P,

I believe the mill ceased production in the 1920's (this is noted in the small publication Aberford in Times Past, by A G Bennett, T Hayton & K Hewitt) The book has a good old photograph of the mill which shows the mill wheel, long since removed following a tragic accident in which a young boy was trapped and killed whilst playing inside the wheel.

The mill wheel appeared to be of a type called a Backshot wheel a good description of waterwheels can be found on Wikipedia.

I'll post a picture of the mill in the near future.
